Chris Lilley’s Hit TV Series Has Sneaky Nuts
Two years after Lilley’s Summer Heights High created headaches in classrooms when teenagers adopted the catchphrase “Puck you miss”, schools fear public insolence could reach a whole new level over the coming months.
One of Lilley’s young characters in the new ABC series, which attracted 1.3 million viewers on its first night, is praised for his penchant for “sneaky nuts” - secretly exposing himself in group photographs.
”Sneaky nuts” is perhaps best explained by Lilley’s character Daniel in a clip from a forthcoming episode: “What it is, right, is [fictitious twin brother] Nathan gets his nuts out in the back of a photo but like in a sneaky way. Sometimes he gets two nuts out, sometimes it’ll be one nut. Sometimes over the top, sometimes through the fly.”
The accompanying footage shows Nathan exposing his testicles in the back of photographs while school friends and family members pose, oblivious to his actions.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph Lilley said: “I just write what I think is funny. I don’t go into it thinking I need to push boundaries, it’s about characters and stories.

"I usually just go, I think that’s f****** hilarious, I’m going to go there. Getting your nuts out for a photo, I think, is f***** hilarious and I’m going to write that in."
As of yesterday, the “sneaky nuts” YouTube clip had been viewed by more than 120,000 people. Mention of the act is rife in Angry Boys fan forums, while there are more than 30 Facebook pages dedicated to it.
"Every Year 10 kid will be doing sneaky nuts in their school photos this year. I expect a sneaky nuts-affected generation of boys to be expelled across Australia," commented "balltearer".
Ian Parnaby, principal of Bossley Park High School, said students caught in the act would be disciplined.
"There’s no doubt they’d be suspended, possibly expelled but we’d have to look at the situation," he said.
